The U.S. Embassy in the Dominican Republic has unveiled "Train, Eat and Repeat," an initiative that aims to promote healthy habits while introducing Dominican consumers to American beef and pork. The launch took place at The Butcher Shop in Arroyo Hondo and was led by Ambassador Leah F. Campos.
The program is run through the Foreign Agricultural Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA/FAS), in partnership with the U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) and Orangetheory Fitness. Campos said the goal is to link the promotion of American agricultural products with a healthier lifestyle, in line with the Make America Healthy Again initiative of the government of President Donald Trump.
The event included a workshop by nutritionist Andrea Rivera on the importance of protein for physical performance and muscle recovery. Afterward, the ambassador joined participants in a special training session at Orangetheory Fitness, and the group shared a tasting experience featuring different cuts of meat.
The event kicks off a training challenge at Orangetheory Fitness that will run through November, with nutrition workshops and specialized guidance. At the end of the challenge, 30 participants will be selected for a barbecue experience organized by the Embassy and USMEF, where regional chefs from the federation will share preparation techniques for different cuts of meat.
